Harvesting Opportunities: September's Season of Growth

  • Posted

As the Summer draws to an end and September begins, for many this means the beginning of an exciting new chapter – from starting a new school year or settling into university, to returning to work after some well-deserved annual leave. The start of Autumn offers a chance to reset, seize new opportunities, and set new goals for the quarter ahead. Here’s what September has in store at Feldon Dunsmore…

New Teams:

With Partner, Sophie Read, embarking on a new chapter and returning to work from maternity leave, the teams at Feldon Dunsmore are experiencing a re-shuffle. This change for some employees, including myself, will offer the chance to build on new and existing working relationships and to showcase our adaptability to meet the firm’s needs.

A year into their apprenticeships, our two Paralegal Apprentices are also rotating teams to broaden their experience in property law and to face new tasks and challenges. We currently have one Paralegal Apprentice, Erin, sitting with the commercial property team in the large barn and another, Isaac, sitting with the plot sales team in the small barn.

New Faces:

This week, we have had the pleasure of hosting our Summer Vacation Scheme and welcomed three budding individuals to join us here at Feldon Dunsmore. Our Vacation Scheme has provided them with the perfect opportunity to gain a valuable insight into life at a niche commercial property law firm and to take responsibility in actioning typical paralegal/trainee solicitor tasks, from legal research and drafting, to title reviews and presentations. We hope they have enjoyed their week with us!

New Goals:

Here at Feldon Dunsmore, we believe in fostering a culture of continuous growth and development. September accordingly marks our second round of 1-2-1 sessions for this financial year. Each employee is given the opportunity to reflect on their progress, achievements, and challenges over the past quarter with one of the six partners at the firm. We are then encouraged to set fresh goals to strive towards achieving over the upcoming quarter. This is a great way to balance celebrating the positives whilst continuously looking for ways to grow and improve.

New Adventures:

Some of Team FD are also tackling a new adventure this weekend on a social hike in the Peak District. With the team hiking to the summit of Mam Tor last September, Feldon Dunsmore is keen to make this an annual event – an opportunity to prioritise getting active, to focus on positive mental well-being, and to embrace new challenges outside of work. Let’s hope the weather holds out!

All in all, this comes as a reminder to turn the page this September and engage in something new… change is not something to be feared but embraced. September is a season of growth.
