However, before you contact the Legal Ombudsman you must first register an official complaint with us. Normally, the Legal Ombudsman expects you to give us 8 weeks to try to resolve the matter. In normal circumstances you are required to register a complaint within one year. You must then give us 8 weeks to try to resolve your complaint before contacting the Legal Ombudsman. A complaint to the Legal Ombudsman must normally be made within six months of the date of the conclusion of the Firm's complaints procedure. In summary:

This could be if you are concerned about our professional behaviour or conduct, such as for things like dishonesty, deliberately overcharging you, or treating you unfairly because of a characteristic such as your age, sex or disability.

How we will handle complaints relating to the use of your data
We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 30 days of receiving it at the latest and will endeavour to do so within 7 days of receipt;
Where necessary, we will request proof of your identity and/ or authority to make the complaint if it is made on behalf of someone else. We will also provide you with a copy of our privacy notice if you have not already seen it, which can also be accessed on our website here ;
We will then take appropriate steps to respond to your complaint, including making appropriate enquiries and keeping you informed. We may arrange a discussion with you to obtain further information and/ or try to agree how to resolve the issues without undue delay.
We will then confirm the outcome of our investigation and, where appropriate, any actions we have taken as a result.
