Certified B Corporation™ is awarded to organisations that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It reflects a commitment to considering the impact of business decisions not only on profit, but on clients, employees, communities, and the environment.
At Feldon Dunsmore, the decision to become a B Corp™ came naturally. As a firm, we recognised that our existing values already closely aligned with the B Corp™ ethos. From the way we support and develop our employees, to our active engagement with the community, and our awareness of environmental impact in how we operate, the principles were already embedded in our day-to-day operations. Certification was therefore a way to formalise and validate what we were already striving to achieve.
Becoming a certified B Corp™ is not the end of the journey; it marks an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. Certified businesses are required to regularly reassess and strengthen their impact across key areas including governance, environment, workers, community, and customers. For Feldon Dunsmore, this means continuing to evolve, challenge ourselves, and ensure that we are delivering positive, meaningful impact alongside high-quality legal services.
For anyone considering B Corporation™, it’s important to have someone within the business who can take ownership of the process. Completing the B Impact Assessment requires time, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of how your organisation operates across all areas of impact.
Having a dedicated person to lead this work also makes a significant difference during the verification stage. Being on hand to support the B Lab assessor, provide evidence, and respond to queries ensures the process runs smoothly and efficiently.
For me, this was actually the most enjoyable part of the journey, bringing together everything we do as a business, evidencing our impact, and working closely through the verification process really highlighted the strength of what we’ve built at Feldon Dunsmore.
