As we head towards the end of the financial year, we have started to reflect on how fortunate we have been to have been so busy this year with our legal work. We have also made a conscious effort to keep ourselves busy with doing other good work, particularly in our local community as this is really important to us as a firm and to each of us individually. It was a real team effort this year to maximise our charity work and fundraising and we wanted to take an opportunity to take a look back at what we’ve been up to …

Our main fundraising activity this year was our Lake District Three Peaks Challenge, with some of the team preparing for a more than challenging activity, between our preparation and the actual challenge we did a total of 19 hours walking, climbed 5 peaks and covered 42.81 miles on foot. Between individual donations and our very generous corporate sponsors we were able to raise a grand total of £4,485 for our charity of the year, Helping Hands Community Project. We want to again, say thank you to everyone that helped us prepare, encouraged us and made donations to our cause – we are so grateful.

We also worked to support Helping Hands Community Project later on in the year with their shoebox appeal at Christmas, the Feldon Dunsmore Team were able to contribute 10 shoeboxes full of essentials and more to put towards the hundreds that Helping Hands then distributed amongst their community.

We also got our aprons on and got cooking at Christmas to do a soup kitchen takeover at the Helping Hands Community Project hub. Four of the team swapped their laptops for pots and pans and cooked enough pasta bolognese for fifty meals and were able to see first-hand the difference that Helping Hands Community Project are making to people’s lives. Whilst we’re not sure that our culinary skills are good enough to make a career change, we had a great time and will definitely be doing more of these in the future.

The team also kindly collected enough food items to fill 6 bags and 2 boxes to donate to our local foodbank, Warwick Food Bank, to assist with their efforts over the Christmas period to help feed as many people as possible.

In summary, this year we have climbed 5 peaks, walked nearly 49 miles, put together 10 shoeboxes, cooked 50 portions of pasta and collected 6 bags and 2 boxes of food – all to hopefully make a real positive difference in our local area. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us in our efforts but most of all, a big THANK YOU to Helping Hands Community Project and Warwick Food Bank for engaging with us and allowing us to play a small role in your amazing work.
