Last week myself and Simran attended our first career fair at a local school, we had many conversations with students of different year groups ranging from Year 7 to Year 11. We found that students were asking lots of questions about who we are and what we do and it was great to be able to share our achievements and values as a firm.

One of the reasons we attended the careers fair is so that we could share our experience of working in a niche commercial property law firm and talk about the different opportunities we can offer the younger generation who would be interested in pursuing a career in law.

We were able to talk about our Spring and Summer work experience and vacation schemes. The application deadline for our Spring schemes has passed and we are currently looking at applications. Applications for our Summer work experience and vacation scheme remain open.

When we typically talk about work experience there is a stigma attached to this that suggests the experience that you are offered doesn’t relate to the day to day tasks you would be doing should you be offered a permanent position. At Feldon Dunsmore we set each candidate various real-world tasks throughout the week that they work on for example a research task or a title review of a real property, finished off with a presentation on a current commercial property law issue.

Something that we are all really excited to talk to you about is our Apprenticeship scheme which we are looking at rolling out in September this year, this consists of 4 days working with 1 day for learning. You will have a dedicated tutor and earn a salary whilst all your training is paid for. This would be a perfect opportunity for those that want to work in the commercial property law industry and may not want to attend university and would like join the firm as an apprentice to embark on the first step to becoming a qualified solicitor at the end of the 5 year apprenticeship scheme.

If this is something that you would be interested in applying for, please send across your CV and cover letter to applications@feldondunsmore.com
